James J. Volker
Chairman and CEO, Whiting Petroleum Corp.
James Volker has 38-plus years of experience in the oil and natural gas industry. He joined Whiting Oil and Gas as vice president of corporate development in 1983. In 1993, he became a contract consultant where he served until 2000, at which time he became executive vice president and chief operating officer. Volker was appointed president and CEO of Whiting Oil and Gas in 2002, and is currently a director of both Whiting and Whiting Oil and Gas Corp. He previously worked for Energy Management Corp. (1971-1982), where he was co-founder, vice president and later president. Volker holds a finance degree from the University of Denver, an MBA from the University of Colorado and has completed H.K. VanPoolen and Associates course of study in reservoir engineering.
